The Latest News...

It's been a while since there have been any updates to the website. For the website itself, I just upgraded the forum software to the latest version, and made changes so that spammers (Fake users posting advertisements) cannot register. I've also made some additions. First is the addition of software that lets the news section be updated remotely. This means that the management company and the board can make additions without my involvement. This is great for me personally, as my schedule keeps getting more and more busy. Hopefully there will be more regular updates. Second, I added software that allows us to keep and maintain an email mailing list. If you want to be notified of the latest news by email, sign up with your email address. If you later change your mind, you can also remove it yourself. The board and management company both will be able to email everyone on this list from the software I just installed. This would have been very helpful last night, as only about 4 people showed up. I suspect this was because the meeting was rescheduled from last month, but notices weren't sent out. An email would have saved some of us (Including myself) from going to the meeting, only to find out it was cancelled. The main reason I created this website was to increase communication. Hopefully the additions will help this goal.
In the community, the big news that everyone likely knows by now is that James Lawrence moved, and is no longer President. The board is apparently a bit in limbo, and I'm hoping to post more information as soon as I know. The other big news, which is again old news, is that Paul Hayes is now managing the community. Crawford is gone, and so are the problems associated with them. I meant to post this a while ago, but I'm very pleased with Paul Hayes. When we have called, we talk to someone pleasant who treats us decently, and actually does what they say. I'm sure it will take some of us some time to shift attitude. For years it was common for many of us to harbor a great deal of anger and frustration towards the Management companies, and with good reason. Now we can finally let our anger go. There are still a lot of serious problems here, but they are at least being addressed as best as possible under the circumstances. In 2008, we were VERY close to not being able to open the pool. Paul Hayes stepped in with his own money, and we had a pool. With my conversations with Mr. Hayes and his staff, his knowledge and professionalism is obvious. I missed the meeting last night, but the one meeting I went to where he was there, the meeting was VERY well run. In past years, a few people would monopolize the entire meeting, and it would run to 11:00 or later. Almost always, I'd have to leave before the end. This meeting ran on schedule, was well organized, and I didn't hear any angry yelling. If you've long given up going to meetings, you should try going to the next one.
